League Champions

The women’s Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League (NCCVL W) formally began in 2006 after a number of years with teams operating independently.  Under the auspices of Gary Colberg, the founder of collegiate club volleyball, Z. Shaver from Chico St. started the women’s league in 2001 as a pilot of four teams (Chico St., Sacramento St., UC Davis, and UC Davis II).  In 2002, D. La Bar took over the reins of the growing league and led it through its initial organization.  He was named Women’s Commissioner in 2007 when Gary Colberg retired as the overall NCCVL Commissioner at the end of the 2006 season.  D. LaBar in turn handed the reins to R. Stamps at the end of the 2009 season.  M. Reuter became the Commissioner in 2015. From 2002-04 league champions were determined by record only.  Since then, all league champions are crowned after completing league play and competing at the league championships hosted at a university in Northern California. The much younger league in Southern California (So-Cal) formed under D. Cline and passed to a new commissioner in 2013.  Similar to the NCCVL W, league champions are crowned after completing league play and competing at the league championships.     Division 1 – Champions NCCVL W
