A fun weekend at UC Irvine saw two teams crowned as state champions! 

Congratulations to UCSB for winning the D1 California State Championships.  UCSB enered the championships as the #1 team in the CCVC’s state rankings.  E. Sherwood, #3, OH, from UCSB was named this year’s MVP after a dominating performance in the final.  D. Wazny from UCSB  was named the women’s coach-of-the-year.  C. Idehen, #14, MH, from UCSB received the CCVC’s State Championships scholarship award.   

Congratulations also are in order to UC Irvine for winning the D2 California State Championships.  A. Inoyue, S, from UC Irvine was named as MVP. 

Both winners received checks for $475 in order to cover part of the cost of attending nationals.  Awards are given to encourage teams to attend nationals now and in the future.

Scholarship Award Recipients: Northern California and State Championships

The CCVC’s mission is to extend playing opportunities to student-athletes to assit them in their pursuit of both scholastic and athletic success.  In accord with that mission, the CCVC is happy to announce this year’s recipients of the Northern California scholarship and State Championships scholarship.

The Northern California scholarship was awarded to C. Salinas, President, UC Berkeley II-M, #11. 

The State Championships scholarship was awarded to C. Idehen, UCSB-W, #14, MH.

Men’s League Champs

The schedule is set for this weekend’s NCCVL men’s league championships at Santa Clara.  Play starts at 11am for D2 and 1pm for D1.  Championship matches are on Sunday.   2014 NCCVL Men’s League Champs Schedule

Update 3/16: Congrats to Fresno St. for winning the 2010 NCCVL-M league title.  T. Dildine, OH, from Fresno St. was named the MVP of the championships.  Congrats to UC Irvine for winning in the south.

Women’s Rankings – March 13, 2014

With league play completed, UCSB retains the top California ranking after winning in the south.  Stanford leap-frogs to #3 after winning the north.

In D2, Cal Poly II maintains the #1 ranking it has held the majority of the season after winning in the north and going undefeated in league play.  UCSB II jumps up to #3 after defeating Point Loma to win the south.
